Giving Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the GoodGiving Challenge?

Hosted by Blue Grass Community Foundation and Smiley Pete Publishing, the GoodGiving Challenge is an online giving campaign that strives to build a community spirit of philanthropy and make supporting the participating nonprofits easy and fun.

  • How does it work?

Our online giving platform at BGgives.org features searchable profiles of the participating nonprofits. All donations will be processed through this website, allowing nonprofits and donors to track the giving. During the GoodGiving Challenge, sponsored matching incentives, and cash and endowmwnt prizes amplify donations.

  • Why should I give through BGgives.org?

We encourage support of local nonprofits with year-round giving, but the GoodGiving Challenge was created as a local charitable celebration to applaud the philanthropists in our community and support the work of local nonprofits. Plus, gifts made through BGgives.org during the GoodGiving Challenge are amplified through sponsored matching incentives and prizes. Only gifts made through BGgives.org count towards a nonprofit's eligibility for these prizes.

  • What are the minimum and maximum donation amounts?

The minimum gift amount is $10. There is no maximum gift.

  • Is my gift tax-deductible?

Yes, gifts made through BGgives.org are 100% tax-deductible. When you make a gift on BGgives.org, your donation is collected by Blue Grass Community Foundation and forwarded on to your charity of choice. Blue Grass Community Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization and all donations are deductible to the full extent provided by law.

  • How will the donations be reported on my credit card statement?

Your credit card statement will reflect a donation to Blue Grass Community Foundation, which we in turn forward to your charity of choice after the conclusion of the GoodGiving Challenge.

  • Does Blue Grass Community Foundation receive any portion of the donations?

No. Blue Grass Community Foundation is a 501(c)(3) and does not profit from the GoodGiving Challenge.

  • Can I make a gift in honor/memory of someone?

  • What if I'm having trouble making a donation?

f your credit/debit card was declined, FIRST contact your credit/debit card provider or bank to obtain the decline reason. If you have contacted your card provider or bank and have still not determined the issue, access the Donor Support service provided by Neon One by submitting a help request in the widget on BGGives.org.

  • What happens if I make a mistake when completing the giving form?

If a donor makes a mistake when completing the giving form, Blue Grass Community Foundation staff will work with that donor to correct the error if possible.

  • How do I get a receipt if I can't locate mine?

An electronic tax receipt with an itemized list of each organization you gave to will be delivered to the email address you provide during checkout. If you think you did not receive an e-receipt, please check your spam folder. At checkout, you will have the option to create a GoodGiving Challenge donor account to track your donations and access gift receipts. If you did not create a GoodGiving Challenge donor account and are unable to locate your receipt, you can request one at the bottom of the homepage at BGgives.org.

  • When is the GoodGiving Challenge?
