Dear St. Mary School Families, Friends, and Supporters,
It has been a wonderful year at St. Mary School, and I am excited to share some of the many blessings and accomplishments we have experienced together. One of the most impactful achievements has been the establishment of our tuition assistance endowment through the Catholic Education Opportunities Foundation (CEOF). Thanks to the generosity of our donors, this endowment has already grown to more than $133,000. Our long-term goal is to build it to $500,000 so that Catholic education at St. Mary will remain accessible and affordable for generations to come. To achieve this, we need the continued support of donors who believe in our mission of forming young people in faith, knowledge, and service.
This year, we have also made tremendous progress in meeting the needs of students with learning differences, especially those with dyslexia. Every teacher from preschool through fourth grade, along with our interventionists, completed intensive training in the Orton-Gillingham approach, which is transforming the way reading and spelling are taught in our classrooms. In addition, we screened every student in first grade through seventh grade for reading challenges, allowing us to identify needs early and provide targeted support. Our reading and math intervention services have expanded to serve more students than ever before, and we are excited to incorporate a new program, Equipping Minds, to further strengthen cognitive skills and academic growth.
Beyond the classroom, our students continue to excel in leadership and extracurricular opportunities. We are proud to announce that our school received the charter for our Middle School FFA Chapter this year. At the Kentucky FFA Convention, our students represented St. Mary with excellence in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies Contest, placing third out of 23 teams from across the state. This recognition is a testament to their hard work, teamwork, and dedication.
