Operation Be You, Inc.

Operation Be You, Inc. was founded by sisters who grew up in a marginalized community in Lexington Kentucky, where few youth development resources existed for Black and Brown girls beyond the Girl Scouts.

Without access to affirming mentorship or skill-building opportunities, they struggled with self-esteem, self-worth and challenges that contributed to a cycle of unhealthy relationships and early motherhood. Their lived experiences now fuel a powerful mission: to ensure that today’s girls have the support, guidance, and opportunities they once lacked.

Operation Be You, Inc. offers year-round programming designed to empower girls through education, mentorship, and community engagement.

Donating to Operation Be You matters because girls of color deserve a safe, affirming place to grow in confidence, increase their self‑awareness, and experience true belonging. OBY provides that space and so much more.

Your support helps us offer year‑round access to new athletic shoes for any child in need in Fayette County Public Schools, ensuring no student goes without. It also fuels our unique cursive‑writing initiative, where we teach children and adults how to write their signatures with pride, restoring a skill removed from public schools years ago. Every gift strengthens our ability to empower, educate, and uplift the youth and families of Lexington.
