$75,000 Goal

For three decades, our volunteers and staff have been on the frontline of fighting hunger for vulnerable folks in the Bluegrass. Our mission is to assure that people who have HIV/AIDS, those in Hospice care, as well as their caregivers and dependent children are fed hot fresh nutritious meals 5 nights a week. Our volunteers and staff have been delivering meals to patients daily rain or shine since 1998. We hope that when you think of Moveable Feast Lexington, you think of real community support, compassion, care, and intention. We hold on to the belief that Food Is Medicine and we are here to provide nourishment.

One of the most terrifying threats of terminal illness is called cachexia or "wasting syndrome."  A combination of fatigue, loss of appetite, involuntary weight loss, loss of muscle and skeletal mass. In combination with underlying conditions or comorbidity factors, "wasting syndrome" multiplies the chances of premature death.  In cases with added barriers such as low income, high healthcare costs, and limited interpersonal support, severe malnutrition is a true threat. A healthy diet is a key factor to preventing malnutrition which can in turn prevent hospitalization or death due to cachexia. Help us protect our community by nourishing its members, keeping our legacy strong, and protecting folks across the Bluegrass from hunger.
