Kentucky Equal Justice Center

About the Organization

We advocate for and with low-income Kentuckians through the courts, at the capitol, and in local communities. Through Maxwell Street Legal Clinic, we help new Kentuckians navigate the complex pathways of legal immigration. Our programs focus on food justice, health law, housing, immigration law, and workers' rights. Our tools for change include legal assistance, impact litigation, outreach and enrollment, and policy advocacy. KEJC advocates serve low-income Kentuckians who are immigrants, workers, participants in safety net programs, and who are faced with housing insecurity.
How is KEJC making Kentucky work for ALL people?

Our toolbox is unique and effective. We take a multi-dimensional approach to our advocacy by working with directly impacted people, policymakers, state agencies, and everyone in between. Examples:

*Legal help that keeps immigrant victims of crime safe from violence and abuse
*Litigation that protected Medicaid coverage for 95,000 Kentuckians
*Door-to-door outreach that gets tenants connected to legal help and rental assistance
*Legal support that stops healthcare institutions from discriminating against Kentuckians with Substance Use Disorder (SUD)
*Training to help directly impacted people be their own advocates in Frankfort for sustainable food systems

Your support helps ensure every Kentuckian has access to justice. Thank you!
