They Cared for Our Community. Now Our Community Needs to Care for Them.

At A Caring Place, our mission is simple but life-changing: we build relationships with older adults and people with disabilities who are living in social isolation, and we make sure they have the support they need to remain safely and comfortably in their own homes.

Today, we are privileged to care for 86 adults over the age of 70, all living with disabilities. As our ministry expands into neighborhoods across Lexington, that number will continue to grow. At the same time, one in four Lexington residents will soon be over the age of 65, and more seniors will struggle with fixed incomes, rising costs, and unmet basic needs.

This Bluegrass Community Gives Day, I'm asking for your help.

Every week we meet older adults who survive on $900 to $1,200 a month. Many receive only modest SNAP benefits—or none at all. They face impossible choices between buying groceries, paying rent, purchasing medications, or keeping the heat on.

We visit homes where cupboards are nearly empty.

We meet seniors who don't have warm blankets for the winter or adequate cooling during dangerous summer heat.

We know people who miss critical medical appointments because they have no transportation and no one to accompany them.

Many qualify for government assistance, but long waiting lists mean they cannot get help when they need it most.

That is where A Caring Place steps in.

We deliver groceries and meals.

We help meet essential needs such as clothing, hygiene supplies, weatherproofing homes, and emergency household items.

We arrange transportation to medical appointments and stay beside our members while they receive care.

Most importantly, we provide something every human being deserves:

Friendship.

Compassion.

Hope.

For many of those we serve, the volunteer who knocks on their door is the only visitor they will see all week.

But we cannot continue this work without your generosity.

On Bluegrass Community Gives Day, every dollar you give stays right here in Lexington, helping older adults and people with disabilities who spent their lives building our community and now need their community to stand beside them.

Your gift makes an immediate difference:

$10 provides pantry staples or essential personal hygiene items.

$50 supplies a week of groceries for a homebound senior or purchases gloves, hats, clothing, or mobility aids.

$100 stocks a freezer with emergency meals, provides warm outerwear, or allows an isolated senior to enjoy a meaningful community outing.

$500 supports a month of supplemental food assistance, transportation to medical care, a better mattress to relieve pain, or technology that reconnects someone with family and friends.

$1,500 provides nutritious meals for one participant for an entire year.

Please give generously this Bluegrass Community Gives Day.

Together, we can make sure no older adult in our community has to face hunger, isolation, or hardship alone.

Let's remind every senior we serve that they are valued, remembered, and deeply loved.
