GleanKY gathers and redistributes excess fresh fruits and vegetables to nourish Kentucky's hungry. Staff and volunteers visit farms, groceries, orchards, farmers' markets, and home gardens to harvest or collect their excess produce and deliver it directly to a network of more than 80 local feeding programs throughout Central Kentucky.

Depending on time of year, GleanKY makes between 15 and 40 gleaning trips each week, and gleans 364 days a year. In 2016, staff and volunteers rescued 293,223 pounds of fresh produce from going to waste and delivered it directly to GleanKY's 80+ partner recipient sites, serving an estimated 30,000 food-insecure Kentuckians over the course of the year. Word of GleanKY's work is spreading - since being founded in 2010, GleanKY has grown from a Lexington-focused effort to a multi-county nonprofit. By 2020, GleanKY aims to glean and deliver produce in all 17 'Bluegrass' counties in Kentucky.
Gleaning requires a lot of people's help, at all times of the year. Those interested in getting involved with our work can learn more about volunteering at our website:
