GleanKY gathers and redistributes excess fresh fruits and vegetables to nourish Kentucky's hungry. Staff and volunteers visit farms, groceries, orchards, farmers' markets, and home gardens to harvest or collect their excess produce and deliver it directly to a network of more than100 local feeding programs throughout Central Kentucky.

GleanKY makes over 40 gleaning trips each week during the peak growing season, and gleans 365 days a year. Since 2010, over 500 volunteers rescued 1.4 million pounds of fresh produce from going to waste and delivered it directly to GleanKY's 100+ partner recipient sites, serving an estimated 50,000 food-insecure Kentuckians over the course of the year. Word of GleanKY's work is spreading - GleanKY has grown from a Lexington-focused effort to a regional nonprofit. By 2020, GleanKY aims to glean and deliver produce in all 17 'Bluegrass' counties in Kentucky.
Gleaning requires a lot of people's help, at all times of the year. Those interested in getting involved with our work can learn more about volunteering at our website:
