Arbor Youth Services

Arbor Youth Services provides a safe and supportive environment for unaccompanied youth (from birth through 24 years of age) who have suffered abuse, neglect or are at-risk of being victimized and may be homeless. We provide emergency shelter the youth under 18, and we help youth over 18 transition out of homelessness. All the youth we serve find themselves homeless often at no-fault of their own, whether they've been removed from or kicked out of their home or have aged-out of foster care.

Last week a young soldier arrived on the doorsteps of Arbor to thank our staff. As a teen in crisis nearly 10 years ago, he utilized our emergency shelter services, built positive relationships with our staff, took part in planned activities, received referrals and then he moved on to do amazing things with his life; including joining the military, beginning a family and going to school. He is a strong and successful young man now, who has chosen to protect our country and his community. Arbor has an abundance of statistical data to measure our agency's success, but our most prominent outcomes are often not realized until years after the resources have been used and the money spent. This young man is the outcome of a human investment made by dedicated staff years ago. He and so many other amazing children who have passed through these doors and have moved on to be successful in adulthood are outcomes that can never fully be quantified. When investing in youth, rather it be time, money or resources, we must always remember that we are investing in the future, investing in our future because the youth of today are the soldiers, teachers, and caregivers of our tomorrow.
