Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill (SVPH) is more than a historic site. It is a living testament to the Kentucky Shakers and their enduring values of community, ingenuity and sustainable living.

The beliefs of the Shakers who built Pleasant Hill more than 200 years ago shaped every part of their daily lives, from the way they farmed and crafted to the way they cared for one another. Today, those values remain at the heart of Shaker Village. Every preserved structure, protected acre and guest experience reflects the same spirit of purpose and connection that defined this community.

Spanning 3,000 acres, Shaker Village invites guests to discover this remarkable place in the spirit of the Kentucky Shakers. Its 34 original Shaker structures make up the country’s largest private collection of original 19th-century Shaker structures, and the site is Kentucky’s largest National Historic Landmark. Pleasant Hill relies on revenue from visiting guests, public funding, private donations and endowment income to care for this place and carry its mission forward. 

Shaker Village balances the preservation of its heritage with contemporary principles that connect the past to the future. Work is guided by three pillars rooted in Shaker values: balanced preservation and conservation, engaged learning and exploration and warm, spirited hospitality.
