Lexington Black Prosperity Initiative

The Lexington Black Prosperity Initiative (LBPI) was established in the summer of 2020 to strengthen and support Black communities in Lexington. Since its inception, it has awarded over $400,000 to local organizations focused on creating a better future for Black residents. However, more resources are needed to amplify this impact, particularly in supporting Black students, families, and organizations in Fayette County.

The LBPI consists of two funding components: one for immediate needs and another for a permanent endowment to sustain its mission long-term. The initiative invites support to further its goals and create lasting change for future generations.

LBPI was established with the mission of empowering and strengthening
Black communities in Lexington. We aim to provide support and resources to
advance meaningful and sustainable change.

  initiative is driven by a vision of community prosperity, focusing on
  investments that uplift and transform the lives of Black individuals and
  families in Lexington.

  network of support and opportunities for Lexington’s Black community.

Pillar 1: Wealth Building and Economic Growth

Goal:
To uplift and create pathways for wealth and economic mobility within
Lexington’s Black community.

 Pillar 2: Educational Equity and Opportunities

Goal:
To improve educational outcomes and prepare Black students in Lexington for
successful careers.

Pillar 3: Wellbeing, Wellness, and Mental Health

Goal:
To tackle health disparities and promote overall well-being, mental, physical,
and environmental, within Lexington’s Black community.

 Pillar 4: Civic Engagement and Leadership
Development

Goal:
To inspire Black civic engagement and advance leadership, ensuring greater
representation in local decision-making.
