Bluegrass Council of the Blind (BCB) is the only nonprofit exclusively serving the needs of adults who are blind or visually impaired in Central Kentucky. BCB services are free of charge to clients and available to any clients affected by vision loss, including family, friends and professionals working with people with low to no vision. 100% of our services support people with disabilities, and more than 60% of our clients are living in poverty. Nearly three-quarters are over age 55, navigating vision loss at the same time they may be coping with other age-related challenges. 

We serve people in all of Kentucky’s 120 counties, with a primary focus on the 11,500 adults in Fayette County and the Bluegrass region who are blind or visually impaired. Blindness knows no boundaries; it impacts people from every walk of life, every background, and every identity.

And so do we.

Bluegrass Council of the Blind provides peer support and assistive technology services to help our clients live meaningful, healthy, connected lives as independent and active members of their communities. The tools and technology available today can be life-changing but are often out of reach for many. We prioritize those who are too often overlooked, facing poverty, isolation, and limited access to resources, and we work every day to close the gaps that keep them from equal opportunity.
