Allegro Dance Project

Our mission is educate, entertain and inspire new audiences by sharing the art of dance through our contemporary dance company and through our outreach program, serving children with special needs. 

WE MOVE TO MOVE YOU!

Our Inclusive Dance Outreach program provides professional dance training for children and adults with Down Syndrome, autism spectrum disorder and other specific needs, with an additional focus on free programming for those from low-to-moderate income households. Last season we were able to share the joys and many benefits of dance with over 1,500 indviduals with specific needs!

Our Contemporary dance company awards contracts to talented dancers, aerial artists and choreographers in our community, offering them valuable work experience and insight into the career of a professional dancer. Our 2024/2025 season included 6 completely packed FREE sensory-friendly school shows and 2 encore pay-what-you-can performances of "It's All How You Spin It", in collaboration with 250Lex, our premiere of "Beauty" at Moondance Amphitheater July 18th-20th, opening for Louisville Ballet for Shakespeare in the Park and performing at the Gatton Park Grand Opening.  This season, we will return to Pam Miller Downtown Arts Center in March for a revival of "Beauty" through a series of sensory-friendly school shows and pay-what-you-can community shows and premiere an all new show titled "Expression" summer of 2026 (dates TBD). All performance evens stay true to our format, including live original music, aerial and circus arts and will continue to provide performance opportunities for participants of our Inclusive Dance Outreach program and Adaptive Dance classes.

Beyond the immediate sense of joy and artistic expression, dance increases flexibility, agility, coordination and spatial awareness. Our program also focuses on expressive, musical, motor and auditory skills. To get to share the joys and benefits of dance and performing with our outreach dancers and to celebrate this kind of inclusion with our community is nothing short of magical!
